I don’t get Hamas’ military strategy

If I had ordered the building of cross border attack tunnels, where there was an attempt to put them to use (see here Wikipedia). I certainly wouldn’t start firing missiles early to get the IDF wound up. Now Shin Bet was aware of these tunnels, so Hamas gave the IDF good reason to deal with the problem.

Hmmm! Hamas seemed to start the ball rolling a bit early.

I’ve just had a bit of a read of Hamas’ 1988 Covenant

I have to admit I only got as far as article 20 at the moment, it’s pretty tedious going, a bit like reading an evangelical chistians handbook. Lot’s of God this, god that and god the other, with a smattering of the prophet.

I gave up at article 20, because Hamas called Godwin’s Law. Basically, if you were to find it on a web forum, Hamas would be the Uber-Troll in a monster flame war.

Interestingly, they mention Jews 12 times but Israel specifically only 4. I cannot take and flame war seriously that calls Jews Nazis. That is a bit of a tedious, trite argument. If they had used ultra nationalistic dictatorship with genocidal overtones, I would have given them a smidge more respect. Stalin and Pol Pot weren’t Nazis by any stretch of the imagination, but you’d never hear any one say that Nazi Stalin.

Also, interesting to note Crusader gets used seven times and christian twice. Mainly in the vein of “now we’ve dealt with them, we’re gonna deal with you”.

It’s an awful lot of hyperbole, that say’s little about a solid, responsible nation building for it’s own supporters, which after I scrolled to the end to find out how much more I had to read, in article 35 are referred to as soldiers. So that’s also another interesting take on things. If all Gaza is Hamas, then all Gazans are soldiers, then the Hamas health ministry and the BBC can’t report civilian deaths as, by Hamas own admission they are all soldiers.

For fucks sake, Hamas are worst that 4chan, subreddits and neoreactionary forums, Hamas should join Chimpmania or A voive for Men

Oh! dear, we’re looking at an Palestinian/Lebanese escalation and a war on two fronts for Israel… escalation means more deaths

Hizb-Allah’s leader Sayyed Nazrallah has opened a threat dialogue towards Israel regarding Gaza, now Nasrallah is no friend of Hamas, but if he is prepared to open a second front to relive the pressure on Gaza, then Israel will have major problems.

Almanar

There is obviously chatter on the wires about this otherwise the Israeli chief of staff would not have open up about preparing for multi front wars. I’ve lost the original link, I believe it was Benny Ganz who said it to the Times of Israel but I can’t find it today.

Hamas is using similar tactics to Hizb-Allah in the Second Lebanese War and the IDF took a pasting. Dispite the US and British Armies messes in Afghanistan and Iraq regarding COIN. The IDF have not learnt any lessons.

All we need now is ISIS to wade in and Israel will be confronted with is worst aggression in decades. Would it survive this one? Yes but the bloodshed would set the Middle East peace process back a lot and this would be a damn sight worse than the First Lebanese war’s impact on the World’s view of Israel.

The Long War Journal (Site-Wide): Islamic State stones women to death in Raqqah. here.

Interesting that after a super power quits a region, political islamic extremism occurs. All the more interesting that Isis and Hamas conveniently use western social media systems.

Just as well the two extremist groups haven’t formed an alliance.

A report in the Algemeiner

Also just like Isis, Hamas summarily executes collaborators. From al-quds.

Summarily executing someone without a trial, isn’t good. My grandmother was accused of collaborating with the Germans at the end of WW2. seventeen years later when my dad was laughed at for being a “German Bastard”,  He attacked the man who said it. The severity of the assault caused my dad to be sentenced for 18 years in Parkhurst. To this day I have problems talking to Germans, I hope my children are never inculcated with the forms of hatred we are seeing in the Levantine or the Middle East.
