This my idealised mobile lab, it weighs about 10kg and can all fit into a 15 laptop backpack, I can run 10-15 VM images, plus two R-pi’s all linked via the switch (one port spare for the wifi pineapple or for plugging into a network). If I’m not being a tech-nista and bugging a barista in a coffeeshop and in a clients office, I would expect a desk, with monitor, keyboard and mouse and a wired connection. Then I could go about my work without using client kit, the ultimate BYOD.
I like the Kitanica trousers as it means I can carry the Monster, Tablet and Filofax on me, without having to dig into my bag. I could have chosen longer batty life and lighter utrabooks, but they don’t have the grunt for what I need to do.
I could swap out the Eurocom monster for a Lenovo ThinkPad X240 with extended battery pack, downside is its heavier, 250mm wider and 200 gms heavier with half the ram of the Eurocom and twice the price, upside is is that I would get a full days work on the battery pack, finally I wouldn’t be able to slip it into the back-pocket of the Kitanica pants or the cargo pockets.

The whole kit above would give me the complete ability to run full electronic surveillance and counter-measures, intruder detection, huff-duff, EC-masint and intruder interdiction. Sitting in a Coffeeshop (with possibly decent WiFi) anywhere in London with a laptop, a backpack and being a casually dressed middle aged man. If I really wanted to go undetected I’d have to have a Macbook, but I don’t like them.
